Immerse yourself in the lush tropical paradise.  Admire the beauty of the dense vegetation during a boat ride through the canals of Tortuguero, take a hike along the hanging bridges with breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano, be witness of the fumaroles of Rincón de la Vieja, see the beauty of Manuel Antonio National Park and end up with the most biologically intense place on earth “Corcovado Area”.


 DAY 1  ARRIVE SAN JOSE

Arrival to San Jose. A Swiss Travel representative will meet and greet you upon your arrival and then you will be transferred to your hotel in San Jose which is approximately 20 minutes driving distance.
Overnight at Presidente Hotel.

DAY 2  SAN JOSE – TORTUGUERO

Today it’s programmed an early transfer looking for the Northern Caribbean’s lowlands. In the first part of the trip you will admire beautiful evergreen mountains and beautiful landscapes of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Once in the Caribbean side we will continue by boat to the Tortuguero National Park, having the first opportunity to admire the unique flora and fauna of this area. In the afternoon you will visit the village of Tortuguero where you will learn the lifestyle of local residents.

DAY 3  TORTUGUERO

Tortuguero is a great place for ecotourism lovers. Explore the secondary canals of this paradisiacal place, where you can see different species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Tortuguero offers a full contact with Mother Nature. Much of the National Park extends along its unspoiled beaches that serve as refuge for spawning of the sea turtles, this event occurs between the months of July to September.

DAY 4  TORTUGUERO – ARENAL VOLCANO

Today the journey continues towards the northern lowlands, where you will have the experience to pass through different villages such as; Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, San Miguel, Venecia and Aguas Zarcas. This trip is very scenic and includes mountains, rivers and different kinds of plantations: pineapple, bananas and sugar cane which are the major sources of revenue in the area. At the end of the day you will arrive to the Arenal Volcano area where you will be welcome by its prefect volcanic cone.

DAY 5 ARENAL VOLCANO

Today you will visit, Arenal Hanging Bridges. This is a 250 hectare (618 acre) reserve of primary forest.  You will enjoy of 15 bridges from 5 to 100 meters long with imposing vistas of the Volcano. In the afternoon you will visit the Arenal National Park. Walking through the trails, howler monkeys will observe your steps and surprise you with their noise that crosses all the forest, the toucan jumping between the branches show you it colorful beat and the cutting leaf ants demark you their trail warning about their presence. Finally relax your muscles, sitting bellow of thermal waterfall.

DAY 6 ARENAL VOLCANO – RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA VOLCANO

Early in the morning it’s programmed the transfer to the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park at the Guanacaste mountain range. The first part of this trip is adorned with the beautiful scenery of the Arenal Lake before you feel the hot climate of the tropical dry forest. The Rincon de la Vieja Area is characterized by bubbling mud spots, steaming vents in the earth, hot springs, and a whole host of wildlife. This is the ideal setting for rest and adventure, all in full contact with nature.

DAY 7 RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA VOLCANO

Day at your leisure to enjoy the hotel grounds or to take an optional tour. There are several natural attractions and many activities as the visit of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, a horseback riding, canopy tour and others.

 DAY 8 RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA VOLCANO – MONTEVERDE

At mid-morning starts the ascent to the Tilarán Mountain Range, home of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. For the afternoon we invite you to visit to the town of Santa Elena, where you will find the frog pound, the serpentarium, some art galleries & CASEM, a women’s cooperative that offers local handicrafts.

DAY 9 MONTEVERDE

Today, you will enjoy one of the most diverse natural walks in Costa Rica! Because of the activity patterns of animals in this forest. This place of misty and surreal environment is a true wildlife sanctuary with more than 2,000 species of plants and trees, 100 species of mammals, over 400 species of birds, including the resplendent Quetzal and approximately 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles, plus a lush green garden of mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree.

DAY 10 MONTEVERDE – MANUEL ANTONIO

For today it is programmed a transfer to one of the most popular destinations of the country, Manuel Antonio. This trip will take you through the scenic mountains towards to the majestic shores of the Pacific Ocean and thanks of the beauty of the landscapes; you will be able to appreciate how vegetation and weather change from the cloud forest to rain forest. In Manuel Antonio, you will discover a beach destination where you have also the opportunity of interacting with Mother Nature.

DAY 11  MANUEL ANTONIO

Today you will be participating on a guided walking tour to Manuel Antonio National Park which is considered one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. It combines a beach of crystal-clear waters with coral reefs, bordered by exuberant tropical vegetation and rainforest. The guided walk through different trails will allow you to observe the abundant flora and fauna of the tropical forest. In particular, several species of monkeys, iguanas, birds and possibly even the three-toed sloth can be seen.

DAY 12  MANUEL ANTONIO

Day at leisure for you to enjoy the hotel grounds, the beach or to take an optional tour.

DAY 13  MANUEL ANTONIO –  CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

Today you will be transferred to Palmar Sur Airstrip at South Pacific Region. From here you will continue by boat through the river and sea to the Corcovado area. The South Pacific of Costa Rica currently receives appealing names like the “last frontier” or the “belly button of life”, as described by National Geographic “the most biologically intense place on earth. A stay in this area will take you into the deepest contact with nature.

DAY 14  CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

Today a one day tour to Corcovado National Park is waiting for you. During the hike you will be able to see many mammals, such as howler and white faced monkeys, sloths, coatis, raccoons and tapir.  And you may observe during your boat transfer whales and dolphins.

DAY 15  CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

You will begin the day with a boat tour to the Caño Island Biological Reserve tour. Isla Del Caño is surrounded by five platforms of low coral reefs where 15 species of stony coral have been identified. The water is relatively shallow, and provides snorkelers with an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with the sea life. The dark, volcanic rock is home of numerous stunning species of marine flora and fauna

DAY 16  CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK – SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

After the breakfast you will take your boat transportation to Palmar Sur Airstrip where your local flight will depart, returning to San Jose. Once in the capital, we will provide a ground transfer that will take you to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) where you will board your flight back home. (Depending on your flight time an additional night in San Jose must be added)
