Explore on your own the great diversity of Costa Rica’s National Wildlife at the northern part of the country, in a remote area named Boca Tapada which is surrounded by river and wonderful forest. Admire the perfect cone of Arenal Volcano, hike through the Rincón de la Vieja National Park, passing by hot muds and fumaroles. Chill out at the tranquil beaches of Santa Teresa and meet the authentic lifestyle, enjoying the breathtaking view from Chayote Lodge.


DAY 1  ARRIVE SAN JOSÉ

Welcome in San José. A Swiss Travel representative will meet and greet you upon arrival.
Overnight at Presidente Hotel.
No meals.


DAY 2 SAN JOSÉ –  BOCA TAPADA, SAN CARLOS

Today in the morning you will continue with your rent a car driving to Boca Tapada de San Carlos. Maquenque Lodge is surrounded by tropical rainforests, and bordering the Majestic San Carlos River, it has become famous for being a unique region for ecology, wildlife observation, unique birding and adventure tours.
Overnight at Maquenque Lodge.

DAY 3 BOCA TAPADA, SAN CARLOS

Day at leisure to explore the wonders of this area on your own.  A boat tour on the San Carlos River. Walking tours, horseback riding or a night tour. There are many things to explore.

DAY 4 BOCA TAPADA – ARENAL VOLCANO

After breakfast you will drive to the Arenal Volcano area. This area represents the countryside of our towns.  These lands are dedicated to agriculture and cattle ranches that become what many people have called the heart of the country.  The main attraction of this area is by far the Arenal Volcano, which rises 1,633 meters above sea level showing off one of the main characteristics with it’s almost perfect conic shape.

DAY 5 ARENAL VOLCANO

Breakfast at the Hotel. Day at leisure to discover on your own the different attractions which are available in this area. From Hiking in the Arenal National Park, Hanging Bridges, Canopy Tour or relaxing in the Hotsprings.

DAY 6 ARENAL VOLCANO – RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA

Today you will continue the journey around the Arenal Lake to the Rincón de la Vieja area. Here you will find country style-cattle areas and also some of the natural wonders contained in the nearby Rincón de la Vieja Volcano national park. Hundreds of species of birds have been identified, as well as mammals of all sizes. This park is also very famous for its boiling hot mud springs, sulfur springs and fumaroles.
Overnight at Cañón de la Vieja Lodge.

DAY 7 RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA

Day at leisure.  There are many activities, such as: Horseback riding, Hiking, visit to the Rincón de la Vieja National Park, canopy and much more for you to discover.

DAY 8 RINCÓN DE LA VIEJA – SANTA TERESA

Today you will have a very interesting drive through the Guanacaste plains heading to the remote area of Santa Teresa Beach. The landscapes of the Nicoya Península offer picture perfect views, whether from the crests of majestic, jungle-covered mountains, to the endless running streams, to the cascading, thunderous waterfalls, or the tranquil, unpopulated beaches.

DAY 9 & 10  SANTA TERESA

Days at leisure to relax and enjoy the beach.
Overnight at Trópico Latino Hotel.
Meals: Breakfast.


DAY 11  SANTA TERESA – NARANJO

Today you will continue your driving experience to Naranjo town in which in the outskirts hills you will find the  Chayote Lodge. This area is located in the central volcanic range, where you will find extended coffee plantations and a great view of the central valley. This is a nice place to settle, relax, make remembrance of your trip and eventually explore on your own the surroundings areas such as the country side, nearby cloud forests and of course the coffee producing process.

DAY 12 NARANJO

Day at leisure for your own exploring.
Overnight at Chayote Lodge.

DAY 13 NARANJO –  INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SAN JOSE

Today you will be making your way to Juan Santamaría International Airport which is 1 hour away where you will drop off the car. Flight back home.
